In-Home Dog Training in Islandia, NY

K9 Advanced brings dog and puppy training directly to your door in Islandia, NY 11749. No group class, no weekly drive, no crating the dog in the car before the lesson even starts. We train in the room where the behavior actually happens, with the people who actually live there.

Over twenty years of training Long Island dogs, on leash and off, from eight-week-old puppies to adult dogs whose owners have already been told to give up on them. The consultation is free, and if we do not believe we can help you, we will say so rather than sell you a package.

Local Knowledge

Dog Training In Islandia: What Makes It Different Here

Islandia is a small incorporated village wrapped around Old Nichols Road and one of the busiest Expressway interchanges in Suffolk, with Lakeland County Park and the headwaters of the Connetquot at its southern edge.

Sitting on top of a highway interchange changes the priorities. A dog that bolts through a door or slips a collar in Islandia is not an embarrassment, he is an emergency. So the work starts where it should: threshold control at every door, a stay that holds when you walk away, and a recall the dog cannot negotiate with. Everything else comes after that.

Proofing runs through the village streets and the park edges, deliberately away from the interchange until the recall is genuinely reliable.

What Islandia Owners Call Us About Most

Why Islandia Owners Choose Us

Over 20 Years Training Long Island Dogs

Training In The Room Where It Happens

Your dog does not charge the door in a training hall. He does it in your Islandia entryway, at a particular time of day, in response to a particular trigger. That is where the correction has to happen, and it is why in-home work beats a weekly class for anything that goes wrong inside the house.

Every Person In The House Gets Coached

If one person enforces the rules and three do not, the dog wins and everybody blames the dog. We work with every family member who handles him, teenagers and children included, on the same commands, the same timing and the same standard.

Real Outings, Not Just Living Room Work

Once the foundation is solid, sessions move outside: sidewalks, pet supply stores, the vet, the groomer and the busiest parts of Islandia. Obedience that only works at home is not obedience, it is a coincidence.

Local To Islandia, Not Driving In From Queens

We are based in East Islip, minutes from Islandia. That usually means a free consultation this week rather than a slot in three weeks, and it means we already know the streets and the distractions your dog has to learn to ignore.

What We Correct In Islandia Homes

The Process

How It Works, Start To Finish

  1. The Phone Call

Describe the behavior in plain terms, including the parts that are embarrassing. The more honest the description, the more useful the first visit is. It costs nothing.

  2. The Assessment

We come out and read the dog: how he handles a doorway, a stranger, a leash and a correction. You will hear what is actually driving the behavior, including the parts of the household routine that are feeding it.

  3. The Program

In-home sessions, a two-week board and train or a four-week board and train, priced and scheduled up front. If a cheaper option would serve you better, we say so.

  4. The Handover

Every program ends with you holding the leash and the rules. A dog trained for you but not with you goes back to his old self inside a month.

Pricing

What In-Home Training Costs

In-home training in Islandia is priced per session or as a package, and the number depends on your dog, the behavior and how deep the habit runs. A puppy who needs manners and housebreaking is not the same job as a four-year-old dog with a bite history, and quoting them the same way would be dishonest. What we will do is come out, meet the dog, and give you a real number and a real timeline before you have spent a dollar.

Islandia Questions

Before You Call

Do you cover all of Islandia?

Yes. Every neighborhood in Islandia and the 11749 zip code, plus Central Islip, Ronkonkoma, Holbrook and the rest of Suffolk County. We also serve all of Nassau County.

How soon can you get to Islandia?

Islandia is a short drive from our East Islip base, so in-home consultations here are usually available the same week. Call 631-405-4220 and we will tell you what is open.

How long is a session and how many will my dog need?

Plan on about an hour per session, longer for the first visit, because we spend real time assessing the dog and the household before any training starts. Basic manners and obedience often land in a handful of sessions. Aggression, reactivity and years of rehearsed habit take longer. You get an honest estimate at the free consultation rather than a number invented over the phone.

Do I have to be there for the training?

Yes, and ideally the rest of the household too. In-home training trains the handler as much as the dog. A dog who only listens to the trainer is worth nothing to you the moment the trainer drives away.

My dog is reactive to strangers. Is a home visit in Islandia safe?

Tell us exactly what your dog has done before we arrive, including any bite history, and we plan the introduction around it using a crate, a leash, a muzzle or an outdoor meeting. We work with reactive dogs regularly and we would rather over-plan the first five minutes than guess.

What does in-home training cost?

It depends on your dog and what needs correcting, and it is priced per session or as a package. The consultation is free and you will have an exact number before anything is booked.

Should a Islandia dog do in-home training or board and train?

In-home is the better fit when the problems are household problems and somebody is available to do the daily homework. Board and train is the better fit when nobody is home to do the repetition, or when the behavior needs breaking quickly. We will tell you which one applies to your dog at the consultation.

Not able to do the daily homework yourself? See our board & train program for Islandia.
